OSHA - 30 Hour General Industry

 COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course covers 18 sections and covers topics pertaining to regulations covered by Standard 29 CFR 1910. This 30-hour General Industry Outreach Course is intended to provide a variety of training to workers with some safety responsibility. Workers must receive additional training on hazards specific to their job, from their employer.  Training will emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, and how they relate to the OSHA General Industry standards. Instructional time will be a minimum of 30 hours. OSHA General Industry subpart references are provided for informational purposes; again, this training is intended to emphasize hazard awareness.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:


State the purpose and functions of OSHA

·    Describe the OSHA inspection process

·    Determine the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees under the OSH Act

·    Determine under which conditions OSHA safety regulations should be implemented

  • Locate OSHA Standards references applicable to specific hazardous conditions and practices.

·     Identify the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) to be used under different working conditions

·     Instruct workers on the proper need for and use of recordkeeping regulations

  • The basic requirements for proper aisle and passageway maintenance
  • Guidelines for identification and protection of floor openings
  • To understand the importance of effective Egress fire protection program
  • To know the safe means of Egress to provide fire protection in emergencies from new or old buildings or structures
  • Outline the general requirements for general safety standards
  • Establish the guidelines and requirements for special purpose equipment
  • Recognize the hazards associated with Bloodborne Pathogens.
  • To recognize hazards associated with overhead power lines, power tools and cords, temporary wiring, grounding
  • Implement preventative measures for accidents in their workplace
  • Guidelines for identification and protection of floor opening
  • Outline the methods of first aid, rescue, and preventative measures to be implemented in case of an accident or emergency

This course has been designed for 30 hours of instruction and interaction time.  As of 10-1-2010 OSHA mandated no more than 7 1/2 hours of instruction in one day, consequently this course is now a four day course.

Attendees must score an 80% on the final test to pass this course. Upon passing this course, you will receive a certificate of completion and wallet card.
